STUDENT ORAL SPEED PRESENTATION COMPETITION

Abstract submission and eligibility

The competition is open for both local and international graduate and undergraduate students. Interested students who want to join the competition should submit an abstract. Please refer to Abstract Submission Guidelines for details and eligibility.

 

The submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Program Committee.  The corresponding/presenting authors will be notified on 15 September 2021 if their entries are qualified or not. 

Registration

Accepted entries for the competition should register in the conference (see Registration) not later than 30 October 2021.

Submission of Prerecorded Video and Script

Accepted entries for the competition will be required to submit a five-minute pre-recorded video and the script of the presentation on or before 05 November 2021.  The video will be made available for viewing during the duration of the joint conference.

Mechanics

  1. The prerecorded video must show the presenter and the presentation slide (you may use one static slide or a maximum of five slides).
  2. Slide numbers should be reflected on the lower right corner of each slide following the specified format (Page x of y).
  3. Each presentation should run for a maximum of 5 min. A point deduction will be imposed for every 5 seconds excess time.
  4. Scientific presentations are to be spoken in English. Presentations in the form of songs, poems, and other creative means are not allowed.
  5. Fancy slide transitions, and animations or gifs of any form are not allowed. Slide number 1 should contain the title of the topic and is to be shown at the beginning of the presentation.
  6. Background music, sound effects, video clips are not permitted.
  7. A panel of judges will evaluate the videos and script and their decision is final. The two Best Student Oral Speed Presenters for each category (Undergraduate/Graduate) will be declared as winners.

Informed Consent

Consent from all collaborators is necessary prior to submission of entries for the competition.  

 

Submission of your entries for Student Oral Speed Presentation Competition grant permission to the organizers of the Joint International Conference of the Sixth International Conference for Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (ICFAS 6) & Asian Fisheries Social Science Research Network Forum One (AFSSRN F1) to use your video submission and images generated from such video in media publications including Facebook, YouTube, email blasts, general publications, and scholarly websites and pages.

Judging Criteria

The submitted videos and transcripts will be assessed by a panel of three judges on 06-10 November 2021.  The top 10 entries will qualify for a Q & A session via Zoom, which is scheduled on 15 November 2021.

 

The judging criteria are as follows:

 

Originality and creativity                                                                25%

Organization (logical presentation of ideas)                               25%

Oral presentation and delivery                                                     25%

Neatness of the presentation slides                                            10%

Q&A Session (Ability to answer questions)                                 15%

 

Announcement of Winners

Winners will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on 26 November 2021.

Prizes

Two Winners for each category:

    • •Best Student Oral Speed Presenter (Undergraduate Category):  Php 5,000* each
    • •Best Student Oral Speed Presenter (Graduate Category):  Php 5,000* each

*or equivalent in USD during the conference

e-Certificate of Recognition for all major winners and finalists, and their advisers.

e-Certificate of Participation to the competition for all participating entries.
